Assistant Instructor
As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional scuba diver, but you also start learning the PADI System of diver education. You can act as an instructional scuba assistant and assume limited teaching responsibilities. It's a great way to gain experience in order to become a scuba instructor!
The PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and when followed by the Open Water Scuba Instructor course (OWSI) and successful performance at the Instructor Examination (IE), leads to certification as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
This is an extensive four (4) day preparatory program consisting of seven (7) IDC Curriculum Components, at least two (2) evaluated knowledge development teaching presentations, at least two (2) evaluated confined water teaching presentations , at least two (2) evaluated open water teaching presentations, demonstrate competence at performing all dive skills listed on the Skill Evaluation, successfully complete the Assistant Instructor Standards Exam and successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skill in open water. Upon successful completion of the course you will be eligible to submit a completed Assistant Instructor application to PADI for the rating of Assistant Instructor. You will also be eligible to enter into the Open Water Scuba Instructor course.
