The Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program is one of two distinct components of PADI’s Instructor Development Course (IDC)-the core of PADI Instructor training. The first portion is the Assistant Instructor course followed by the Open Water Scuba Instructor program.

    This is an extensive five (5) day program consisting of fifteen (15) IDC Curriculum Components:

    • At least two (2) evaluated prescriptive teaching knowledge development presentations
    • At least two (2) evaluated confined water teaching presentations
    • At least one (1) integrated (two skills) evaluated open water teaching presentation
    • Demonstrate competence at performing all dive skills listed on the Skill Evaluation
    • Instructor Dive Theory Exams800 /yard/metre mask, snorkel, fin swim
    • Successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skill in open water

    Upon successful completion of the course you will be eligible to receive a PADI IDC Certificate of Completion, qualifying you to attend a PADI Instructor Evaluation (IE) scheduled immediately following all of our IDC’s.
