The first step in being prepared to handle a diving emergency is education. DAN courses teach you the First Aid steps to care for an injured diver and interact with medical professionals. All Divemasters, Assistant Instructors and Instructors need to know First Aid steps in order to care for an injured diver at the dive site.

DAN Instructors are a vital part of educating the diving public and their staff through DAN courses. Contact us to learn how to become a DAN Instructor. As a DAN Instructor, you can offer your students classes that will help make them better prepared to respond to a dive emergency, as a prerequisite for Rescue Diver, Divemaster or any Leadership program. To become a DAN Instructor, you must participate in a DAN Instructor Qualification Course (IQC).

The IQC follows a modular format. There is a core module and then a separate module for each training program.

To get started you must:Be an active DAN MemberBe an active scuba diving educator*A current CPR/First Aid instructor (You may complete the Basic Life Support: CPR and First Aid course to fulfill this requirement.)

Note: a scuba diving educator is; any scuba diving instructor, assistant instructor, or dive master with a recognized scuba training organization such as PADI.
